Welcome to the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Page feel free to look around and learn what we are and little of the history of our over 275 year old church parish.
The church is located in the downtown Natchitoches, Louisiana National Historic District and was built as the Cathedral of the former Diocese of Natchitoches.
Parish records date back to the 1720's and show the Parish's roots in French, Spanish, and American periods.
(This site has taken considerably longer to assemble than anticipated due to the time researching creditable sources with traceability to primary documents(in several cases the primary documents themselves). Some legend may have slipped in but great effort has been made to avoid such.)
